Captain George Withers

Captain George Withers is a career soldier. An officer in the Second Battalion of the Coldstream Guards, he is currently stationed at Victoria barracks, Windsor, a quarter of a mile from the castle. He is a decorated veteran of the Great War, during which he met Doctor Frederick Bartlett.

Family
George has one younger sister called Anna who is married to a Mr Albert Newman (a chemist) they have no children and live in London. His parents are both dead. His father dying when he was quite young made George the 'man of the household' and gave him a strong sense of responsibility towards his mother (who died a few years ago) and his younger sister Anna.
Goals
Captain Withers seems very proud to be British and it is readily apparent that he has a strong love of King and Empire. He seems to have few ambitions beyond being a good officer and brother and takes his responsibilities seriously.

- Doctor Frederick Bartlett. Who he meet during the war and has remained good friends with.
- Major Edward Danby, His commanding officer during the war.
- Percy Whiteman, an old school friends who lives on a small farm near Bath.
